5 Key questions to consider when planning your next golf vacation

Vacations centered around golf are becoming more and more popular. It is a great way to connect with friends and/or family and creates opportunities to see new parts of the world. But with so many great courses across the world, it may be difficult to choose your next destination. Here are 5 key questions to consider when planning your next golf vacation.

Who? Do you like to golf with your spouse? Or do you have a group of golf buddies that would enjoy a new course together? Who is traveling together will guide much of the vacation selections. A romantic resort could be

a very different vibe from a resort known for great golf by day but great parties by night.

What? In addition to golf, what do you like to experience on vacation? After a full day of playing 18 holes, do you like to go for a spa treatment? Do you like to hang out at a local dive bar with a beer while you relive your game? Will you want a mix of golf days and tours of the destination on other days?

Where? Have you always wanted to play in the desert? Maybe you are interested in a historical setting like Scotland or on a course that overlooks the sea like in the Caribbean? Understanding where you want to golf and vacation will aid you in the next question of when to go.

When? When you want to travel will be important for your golf destination. Do you want to see a golf event like a PGA tour stop? That will dictate the timing of your trip. Maybe you prefer to travel in winter months to escape the snow at home. Climates that are warm and comfortable year-round may be the right choice.

How much? You will want to be sure to consider how many rounds of golf you want to play, if you are renting clubs or paying to bring your clubs with you on vacation, and if you will be walking the course or will need a cart.

A good travel budget will also account for airline tickets, total hotel stays, meals each day, transportation while on vacation, and fun money. You can start with a budget amount in mind to select where and when you travel.

Or, if you have a particular golf destination in mind, you will want to understand the associated costs to manage your budget accordingly.
